As the annual competition marks its 35th anniversary, the shortlist for the International Van of the Year 2027 (IVOTY) has been announced. In contention for the most prestigious prize in the light commercial vehicle industry are five main brands presenting nine models, some with shared engineering.

In alphabetical order the finalists for IVOTY 2027 are:

• Farizon V7E
• Hyundai Staria Electric
• Maxus Deliver 7
• Renault Trafic E-Tech
• Stellantis Pro One New Smart Compact van – Citroën Berlingo Van First/Fiat Professional Doblò EasyPro/Opel Combo Start/Peugeot Partner Active
• Volkswagen Caddy Cargo

Once again there is a mix of European and Asian manufacturers in the contest with German, French and Italian brands up against Chinese and South Korean produced light commercials, to make the election of the 2027 trophy winner all the more interesting for the 26 member jury.

Jarlath Sweeney, Chairman, International Van of the Year & Pick-up Awards explains the qualification procedure: “The main criterion for the nomination and the election of any van as International Van of the Year is its contribution to high standards of efficiency, safety, with respect to environment and the sustainability of the transport of light goods by road in the countries involved in the IVOTY Co Ltd., International Van of the Year organisation. Any purpose-built, light commercial vehicle up to 3,500 kg GVW is eligible.”
“In line with current technology trends, the majority of the contestants are zero-emission offerings, coming from both continents, looking to following on from the success of the KIA PV5 Cargo winning the award for last year.,” he added.

The announcement and presentation of the International Van of the Year 2027 award will be made at the Night of the Stars Gala evening at forthcoming IAA Transportation exhibition on Monday 14 September 2026.
