Oct 23, 2023

Vans – Big, Medium and Small, using current and future fuels and energy are all in contention for the top global prize – International Van of the Year (IVOTY).

This, the 32nd year of the annual contest, sees a little city van at one end of the scale, up against large electric and hydrogen powered panel vans at the other end, with some new entrants, among them; “such is the beauty and broadening aspect of the competition” according to Jarlath Sweeney, Chairman, IVOTY.

The long list of nine nominees, will be whittled down to six before the final election later this month.

In alphabetical order, the 25-strong jury membership, spread across Europe will elect the overall winner from the following:

  • Citroën Ami Cargo van/Opel Rocks Cargo
  • Ford Transit Custom
  • HYVIA Master E-Tech Hydrogen
  • Iveco eDaily
  • Maxus eDeliver 3 & 9
  • Mercedes-Benz eCitan
  • Opel Vivaro-e Hydrogen (Stellantis)
  • Renault Trafic E-Tech

As Jarlath explained: “The main criteria for the International Van of the Year Award is the vehicles’ contribution to the efficiency, safety, sustainability and environmental standards of the light commercial vehicle sector. To be eligible, the vehicle must be new, in series production by the end of the year for which it receives the award, and present a significant technological innovation. The election process is adjudicated independently by the RHA UK.”

The official announcement and presentation of both the IVOTY 2024 and the International Pick-up Award 2024 trophies will take place at Solutrans 2023 at EurExpo, Lyon, France on Wednesday 22 November next.
